Self-compassion
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
— Carl Rogers
What is self-compassion?
Self-compassion based therapy allows you to befriend the wisdom of your self. Every part of you. Even your inner critic.
Research indicates self-compassion reduces therapist burnout, as well as relieves suffering across a range of mental health concerns, including*:
depression
social anxiety
dementia
eating disorders
stress
anxiety
self-criticism

As with all healing, developing self-compassion is a journey. Self-compassion may feel uncomfortable or strange at first. As helpers, we are used to directing our care outwards, towards other people, instead of towards ourselves.
By working with someone who has also travelled this path, you’ll feel supported, accepted, cared for, and understood.
