Compassionate and creative counseling for tired teens and adults.

So many responsibilities.

You’re a friend, partner, child, student, caregiver, entrepreneur, employee….the list goes on.

Sometimes it can be hard work.

It can feel lonely and exhausting.

You might feel like you have no idea what you’re doing and you don’t know who to ask for help. Other times, you feel like too many people rely on you and expect too much from you. You wonder, “Who’s looking out for me?”and another part of you saying, “This isn’t good enough. You need to do better.”

And no matter what, you are still giving your best self to others.

It’s tiring, to say the least. So every night you collapse on the couch, zone out on your phone, and say “some other time” to fun, friends and hobbies.

And you ask yourself:

Is all this effort worth it? Will it ever get better?

Is this all there is?

This is hard.

Let’s get you to a place where you’re swimming instead of treading water.

Hi, I’m Beth.

This is Rumi.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and mindfulness practitioner.

I’m a Colorado transplant, a corporate dropout, and a gatherer of experiences. I’m a psychology geek who thrives on learning and upgrading my therapeutic skills.

I love working with helpers, activists, and nonconformists—including therapists, caregivers, medical professionals, and the students and teens who want to be them. That’s because, like you, I want to make the world a better place. And I’ve learned firsthand it can be hard, stuff from the past can come up, and it can feel exhausting. I know our experiences aren’t the same and I also know it helps to be with someone who gets it.

If you find yourself yearning for more balance, creativity, and replenishment, let’s talk.

This is Rumi the therapup (she/they).

Rumi helps people live in the moment.

Rumi shows their enthusiasm for life and love for people through whole body wiggles. They love belly rubs, praise, armpit scratches, and sleeping as close to human feet as possible.

Rumi is a graduate of Duo Dog’s Touch Therapy training program (https://duodogs.org/services/touch-dogs/) and continues to build their communication skills through grunts, extended eye contact, and booping legs with their nose.

If Rumi could have any superpower, it would be telekinesis. So they could get All. The. Treats.

The other stuff.

I believe:

  • You are strong and wise and sometimes you may need to be reminded of that.

  • Many brains and nervous systems work differently. You can learn about yours and start to appreciate their gifts.

  • You have the capacity to move beyond your past. You can flourish in your present and future.

  • You deserve joy, happiness, and freedom.

  • Therapy is an opportunity to safely try on new attitudes and behaviors.

  • Healing happens in relationship.

  • Healing can happen through movement, art, and imagination. Talking about your trauma isn’t always necessary or helpful.

  • We are all creative and curious beings.

  • You are a whole, complete, perfect being. Even if it doesn’t feel that way for you right now.

“You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life?”
